At the Powderhorn Chateau we have a small experienced team who work year round. During our high season (June – October) our staff force increases from approximately 15 to 50+. We employ seasonal staff to fill positions in Management, Food and Beverage (front of house and chefs) and Housekeeping.

We are family owned and operated. We look for experienced staff that will show initiative, have outstanding service skills, work fast and efficiently, perform well under pressure and fit into a sociable team. We are committed to providing high levels of service to our clientele who include both domestic and international visitors. We provide a fun, social atmosphere to work in and offer competitive rates to the right candidates.

To be successful in this role you must have a high level of professionalism and be comfortable taking responsibility as well as delegating it.

You will need to be confident to work autonomously and within a team environment having proven experience in being able to set up run to completion and pack down events conferences and weddings.

You will understand that customer satisfaction always takes priority however efficient restaurant operations make it possible.

You must be proficient in all areas of the restaurant to assist where necessary manage time effectively act with integrity and honesty and be friendly positive and enthusiastic

This role is hands on and supervisory so proven experience in all areas of hospitality is required.

Position Vacant: Chef de Partie

Summer is calling and we are currently seeking experienced an experienced Chef de Partie to work at the iconic Powderhorn Chateau in Ohakune.

We are based in the central north island at the base of New Zealand’s largest ski fields and the stunning Tongariro world heritage park.

We are on the look out for hard working and dedicated team players. There will also be plenty of opportunity to experience what the mountain has to offer whether it’s skiing or snowboarding.

If you enjoy working in a fast paced professional kitchen to produce a consistently high standard of food through preparation and service we want to hear from you.

This is the perfect role for passionate Chefs who love a challenge and are real team players.

As the Ideal Candidate for this role some qualities we seek include:

Experience in higher end and high volume a la Carte settings

2 years minimum experience in a similar role

A proven understanding of kitchen hygiene and safety principles

Good communication skills in a busy kitchen environment and the ability to handle pressure in a calm professional manner.

An unwavering commitment to quality and consistency

A hands on attitude and the ability to promote good work ethic and values
